Please provide a tasty snack that will fill-up 13 HUNGRY girls after a long day at school. Drinks are not needed.

Please trade with someone else if you can't do snack on your assigned day.

Tasty and Fun Girl Scout Snack Ideas

Ziploc Spoon Fudge

Preparation Method Plastic bags
Number Served: Individual servings
Non Food Items Needed: Ziploc Bag
Food Items Needed (each bag):
* 1/2 c. powdered sugar
* 2 tsp. cream cheese
* 1/2 - 1 Tbs. cocoa
* 1 Tbs. butter (1/8 stick)
* 2-3 drops of vanilla

At Home Preparation: Can place items into bags ahead of time, or let girls each measure.

On Site Prep / Cooking Instructions:
Place all ingredients in the Ziploc bag and squeeze out all of the air.
Squish the continents of the bag until all the ingredients are well mixed and there is a creamy consistency.
After the fudge has been mixed, you may add additional flavorings such as M & Ms, nuts, peanut butter, etc.
Serving Suggestions:
Eat with a spoon. Delish!

Ants on a Log

Preparation Method: none
Non Food Items Needed:
* Knives
* Cutting board

Food Items Needed:
* 1 bunch celery
* 1/2 cup raisins
* 1 cup peanut butter

At Home Preparation: Cut celery into pieces ahead of time, if desired.
On Site Prep / Cooking Instructions: Wash celery and cut into 3" pieces. Fill celery with peanut butter. Place several ants (raisins) on top of the peanut butter.
Serving Suggestions: Eat and enjoy!
Comments: Variations: Use crackers instead of celery.

Bird Seed

Preparation Method: No cooking required.
Number Served: Make what you need, easily added to or subtracted from
Non Food Items Needed:
* Plastic Baggie or some form of individual container
* Large bag or bowl for mixing
* Measuring cups

Food Items Needed: (per person):

* Toasted corn kernels
* Sunflower seeds (hulled)
* Chopped nuts (cashews, almonds, peanuts, or mix)
* Granola cereal (plain)
* Dried Fruit ( raisins, currents, banana chips, apple chips)

At Home Preparation:
On Site Prep / Cooking Instructions: Each person will mix 1 Tbs. (as a troop 1 to 2 cups) of each ingredient into their bag.
Serving Suggestions:
Comments: This "bird seed" trail mix is crunchy, fruity and really good!! The usual high fat content of trail mix (or gorp) is greatly reduced if you use a low-fat variety of granola.
We used this for a Birthday party activity when the theme was Birds. The kids loved it (younger kids) and each finished their bag with no complaints about taste.

Fruit Kabobs
Preparation Method: No cooking
Number Served: as many as you prepare for
Non Food Items Needed: 6 inch wooden skewers or swizzle sticks
Food Items Needed:
* bananas
* maraschino cherries
* marshmallows
* strawberries
* any fruit or other item that can be pierced with a swizzle stick or skewer

At Home Preparation:
On Site Prep / Cooking Instructions: Slice bananas into bite size chunks. Prepare other fruit into bite size chunks.
Place items in bowls line up along a table. Give each girl a swizzle stick or skewer. Line them up and have them take one of each item, piercing it with their stick.
Serving Suggestions:
Comments: Use your imagination for alternative ingredients for this snack.

Mice
Preparation Method: No cooking
Number Served: Depends on pears in can
Non Food Items Needed: None
Food Items Needed:
* Can of pears
* licorice
* red hots
* mini chocolate pieces

At Home Preparation: None
On Site Prep / Cooking Instructions: Let the girls get a pear and place on paperplate, at the large end of the pear, have the licorice string coming out the back for the tail, the small end of the pear, place chocolate pieces for ears and a red hot for the nose.
Serving Suggestions:
Comments: These are really cute finished...the girls in my troop thought they were so funny...thinking that they were eating mice! EEEEWWWW was their comment

Moose Lips
Preparation Method: No Cooking
Number Served: 4
Non Food Items Needed: Knife
Food Items Needed:
* Red Apple
* Carmel dip or Peanut Butter
* Mini Marshmallows

At Home Preparation: None
On Site Prep / Cooking Instructions: Take red apples and cut them into eight sections, and remove seeds. Spread one side of each section with caramel dip or peanut butter. Then take mini marshmallows and sandwich them between two sections.

Ticks (or Ants) On A Latrine Seat
Preparation Method: No Cook

* Knife

Food Items Needed:
* Apple
* Cream Cheese (or peanut butter, or caramel dip)
* Raisins or mini-chocolate chips

At Home Preparation:
On Site Prep / Cooking Instructions: Core apples, and slice crosswise into rings. Spread apple rings with cream cheese. Sprinkle with raisins or mini-chocolate chips
